Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the Tanion mobile application and this website. By downloading or using Tanion, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Elias Hüngerle ("Tanion", "we", "us") regarding your use of the Tanion app and related services. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not useTanion.

2. What Tanion does

Tanion is an intelligent tanning and UV tracking app. It provides personalized tanning routines, UV-aware recommendations, smart timing suggestions, burn-prevention guidance, AI-assisted tan progress tracking, Vitamin D estimates, weather and UV forecasts, goal tracking, streaks and achievements. Features may change, improve or be discontinued over time.

3. Health & safety disclaimer

Tanion is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. UV figures, burn-risk estimates, tan analyses and Vitamin D values are approximations for informational purposes only and may be inaccurate. They must not be relied upon as a substitute for professional medical, dermatological or health advice.

Excessive sun exposure and UV radiation can cause sunburn, premature skin aging, eye damage and skin cancer. You are solely responsible for your sun-exposure decisions. Always use appropriate sun protection and consult a qualified healthcare professional regarding your skin, sun exposure, Vitamin D needs or any medical concern.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Tanion. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

5. Subscriptions & payments

Tanion offers an optional premium subscription, Tanion Pro, available as a weekly plan ($6.99/week) or a yearly plan ($79.99/year). Prices may vary by region and are confirmed in your local currency at the time of purchase.

  • Subscriptions are billed through your Apple App Store account.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your device's Settings under your Apple ID → Subscriptions.
  • Payments, refunds and renewals are handled by Apple in accordance with the App Store terms. Refund requests are subject to Apple's policies.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use Tanion for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
  • attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, interfere with or circumvent the app's security or usage limits;
  • upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or that depicts another person without their consent;
  • misuse, overload or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or service providers.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of the photos and information you create inTanion. You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the requested features — for example, transmitting a progress photo to our AI provider when you request an analysis. We do not claim ownership of your content and do not use it for advertising.

8. Intellectual property

Tanion, including its software, design, branding, logo and content, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep Tanion available and reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend or discontinue features at any time, and may rely on third-party services (such as weather and AI providers) whose availability we do not control.

10. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tanion is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of UV, weather, burn-risk or tan-analysis data.

To the extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages, or for any harm arising from your sun-exposure decisions or reliance on the app's estimates. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

11. Termination

You may stop using Tanion at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or misuse the service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The place of jurisdiction is Kilchberg, Switzerland, to the extent permitted by law. Mandatory consumer protection rights in your country of residence remain unaffected.
