Troubleshooting
UV or weather not loading
- 1Make sure location access is enabled: Settings → Tanion → Location → While Using.
- 2Check that you have an internet connection — UV and forecast data is fetched live.
- 3Close and reopen the app to refresh the latest conditions.
Camera or photo scan won't open
- 1Grant camera and photo access in Settings → Tanion.
- 2Ensure there is enough free storage on your device to save the capture.
- 3If a scan fails mid-analysis, simply retake the photo to retry.
AI scan limit reached
- 1Tanion includes a monthly allowance of AI progress scans.
- 2Your allowance resets at the start of each calendar month.
- 3If you believe the count is wrong, contact us and we'll help.
Not receiving reminders
- 1Enable notifications: Settings → Tanion → Notifications → Allow.
- 2Confirm reminders are turned on inside the app's settings.
- 3Check that Focus / Do Not Disturb isn't silencing alerts.
Subscription help
- Manage or cancel: open Settings on your iPhone → tap your name → Subscriptions → Tanion → Cancel Subscription. Pro stays active until the period ends.
- Restore purchases: reinstall the app and use "Restore purchase" on the subscription screen to recover your existing plan.
- Billing & refunds: payments are handled by Apple. Refund requests are managed through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Plans: Tanion Pro is $6.99/week or $79.99/year (about $1.54/week).
Privacy inquiries
Tanion is local-first and has no account system — your data lives on your device. You can delete entries in the app, revoke permissions in iOS Settings, or uninstall to remove local data.

What is Tanion?+
Tanion is an intelligent tanning and UV tracking app for iPhone. It gives you personalized, UV-aware tanning routines, real-time burn-prevention timing, AI-powered tan progress scans, Vitamin D tracking and a 10-day UV forecast — so your time in the sun is safer and more effective.
How does the AI tan analysis work?+
When you take a progress selfie, Tanion sends the image to a vision AI model that estimates your skin shade, tan level, evenness, sun stress and how much recovery your skin needs. Results are saved to your private progress timeline so you can track changes over time. The optional onboarding skin scan is processed on your device and is not uploaded.
Does Tanion help prevent sunburn?+
Yes. Tanion estimates how long until you'd risk a burn based on the live UV index, your skin type and how much skin you have exposed, and tunes routines to keep your total sun exposure within a safe daily range. Tanion supports safer habits but is not a medical device.
Where does the UV and weather data come from?+
Tanion uses your device location to fetch live UV index and weather data for your exact spot, including an hourly UV curve and a 10-day forecast. Location is used to provide these features and is not used to identify you.
What does Tanion Pro cost?+
Tanion Pro is available as a weekly plan at $6.99/week or a yearly plan at $79.99/year (about $1.54/week — a 78% saving versus weekly). Prices may vary by region and are confirmed in your local currency at checkout. You can cancel anytime in your Apple subscription settings.
How do I cancel my subscription?+
Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID. To cancel, open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, select Tanion and choose Cancel Subscription. Your Pro access continues until the end of the current billing period.
Is my data private?+
Your routines, progress entries, settings and Vitamin D data are stored on your device. Progress photos stay on your device and are only sent to the AI provider at the moment of analysis. Tanion has no login and does not sell your data. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
Do I need an account?+
No. Tanion works without creating an account or signing in. Usage limits for AI scans are managed with an anonymous identifier and do not require personal information.
